In last week’s blog, I threatened to tweet my way around WasteExpo, but it turns out that won’t be the case, as I’ve been laid low by some sort of huge germ and have taken to my bed until it relents.
It’s more the pity, because I truly looked forward to seeing what new equipment and management systems were going to appear on the show floor or be explained in the numerous presentations.
High on the list are the vehicle propulsion systems that I will lump together under the term hybrid drive, though I know this is highly imprecise in explaining what Eaton, Parker Hannifin, and BAE Systems are featuring at the show. Because of the short-range start-stop nature of the collection process, I’ve long felt that it offers the greatest opportunity for energy recovery of any vocational activity.
Equally interesting are the various approaches to waste conversion as well as their potential for increasing diversion at the MRF/Transfer Station level.
In any event, I will be receiving detailed information on these and other features of this year’s WasteExpo and will pass it along in future weeks.
