In my web log of November 20, I asked you to take a very short survey, forgetting that the newsletter in which it appeared would not be sent until November 21, when many of its recipients would be preparing for the Thanksgiving holidays. As a result, the response to the appeal fell short of what I had hoped, so I’m going to give it another shot. Here’s what I had to say:
I’ve been asked to take part in a panel at SWANA’s 2013 Senior Executive’s Seminar, discussing what I will call, in its loosest form, human resource development in MSW systems.
I have to admit I find it a daunting task. Not that there’s a dearth of learned discourse on various aspects of the subject; it’s rather that I’m struggling to come to grips with what the needs for both categories will be and then how to ensure their availability and readiness to meet the challenges they’re likely to face. So I am asking for your help in preparing for the task.
It starts with a question as to what you think the role of your organization will be five years from now and how well your current staffing and activities are geared to meet anticipated (or potential) changes? To help me get a handle on this, I’d like for you to take a very short (30-seconds max) survey, the responses to which will serve as the backdrop to next week’s column.
The vehicle for this is Survey Monkey, so you can rest assured that your participation and the results are confidential. Thank you, in advance.
