Today it’s to announce the introduction of our completely
overhauled MSW Management website and ask you to go and take a look at
what’s there for you.
Aside from news and commentary by waste professionals like
yourself, you’ll find full-text feature articles and departments from previous
issues (three years at the moment, but over time we’ll maintain a decade’s worth
online), a selection of web-only articles, and an array of what I hope you’ll
find provocative discussion subjects for you to wade in on.
For starters I’m going to expand on the Editor’s Comments in
our most recent (September 2008) issue where I questioned the stewardship value
of collecting materials under the banner of recycling, then selling them abroad,
essentially washing our hands of any responsibility for their environmental or
societal impacts.
It’s my opinion that this is shabby opportunism shrouded in
goody-two-shoe environmental hogwash, but I could have it all wrong. How do you
feel about the practice? If you support it, let me have it between the eyes. If
you’re against it, let us know what we can do to expand markets here where we
can deal with the materials responsibly.
