Presentation Description:
This session will explain the
difference between direct emission reductions (Voluntary Emissions Reductions or
VERs) and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) or indirect emission reductions
created by landfill gas projects. Multiple protocols exist for defining and
monetizing each credit, and multiple regional markets in the US are developing
around regulated and voluntary demand. 3Degrees will use its extensive REC
market experience to describe how this could affect landfill gas project
development. 3Degrees Inc. has been a leader in the U.S. voluntary greenhouse
gas offset and REC market since the earliest elements of the market.
