Industry-recognized Curriculum Geared at New Construction Managers
Gainesville, Fla.—NCCER has revised both the structure and content of its Contren® Learning Series Project Management curriculum.
Project Management is designed to give new construction mangers an introduction to managing a construction project. Participants are introduced to a basic overview of project management before exploring other topics such as safety, construction documents, construction planning, estimating and cost control, scheduling, and resource and quality control.
Three new modules or "individual study units" are introduced in the revision including Interpersonal Skills, Issues and Resolutions and Continuous Improvement. Many of the forms that help managers complete their daily tasks are also included along with a list of key trade terms and trade term quizzes.
NCCER worked with subject matter experts representing industry and academia across the country to introduce relevant industry material into the existing books. Instructors from NCCER’s Construction Management Academies also provided insight to the revision.
Participants successfully completing the Project Management curriculum through an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor will earn transcripts, certificates, and wallet cards through the NCCER National Registry.
Both the participant and annotated instructor’s guide is available for order through Pearson Publishing. A companion DVD with real life on-the-job scenarios on the issues construction managers face is also under development for a fall 2008 release.
