Crashgard Sand Barrel System Earns FHWA Acceptance Letter

The CrashGard® Sand Barrel System is now available for use on the National Highway System (NHS).
Plastic Safety Systems, Inc. announces that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has issued acceptance letter CC-97 for CrashGard®, and many states across the U.S. have now approved its use.
In letter CC-97, the FHWA confirms that CrashGard® meets the criteria of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, Report 350, Test Level 3, for non-redirective, gating crash cushions. Specifically, CrashGard® passed tests 3-40 through 3-44. Further, the FHWA states that CrashGard® may be used on interstates, highways, and state and local roads.

- Durable: Blow-molded with high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, CrashGard® withstands minor impacts during handling.
- Universal: CrashGard® reduces inventory costs. One CrashGard® barrel accommodates all sand weight requirements. With insert: weight requirements of 200, 400 and 700 lbs; Without insert: 1,400 and 2,100 lbs.
