Curbside Value Partnership Announces Coca-Cola Recycling As Newest Sponsor
Arlington, VA – Coca-Cola Recycling LLC, the company founded by Coca-Cola Enterprises to recover and recycle beverage packaging materials in North America, is the newest sponsor of the Curbside Value Partnership. The partnership brings together two groups committed to increasing recycling rates throughout the country. The sponsorship will begin by focusing on statewide recycling efforts in the state of Georgia, a current Curbside Value Partnership partner and headquarters to Coca-Cola Recycling and the global Coca-Cola system.
“We are extremely excited to be joined by Coca-Cola Recycling,” said Steve Thompson, director of the Curbside Value Partnership. “The company is a natural fit for CVP as they too are interested in increasing recycling awareness but also value the importance of measuring the actual impact of that increased awareness. Together, we are hoping to increase recycling rates nationally, starting in Georgia.”
Coca-Cola Recycling, based out of Coca-Cola Enterprises’ Atlanta headquarters, is focused on recovering and recycling beverage packaging materials developed and used by the Coca-Cola system in North America – including polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic, aluminum, cardboard and plastic film. The company works to develop cost-efficient solutions to reclaim used beverage containers and will establish centralized recycling centers at major
Coca-Cola Enterprises facilities throughout North America.
“When Coca-Cola Recycling was launched last year, our goal was to help the Coca-Cola system to recycle and reuse all of the beverage container packaging it uses in North America,” said John Burgess, president and chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Recycling. “Partnering with the Curbside Value Partnership will not only allow us to move closer to that goal, but will increase the amount of valuable recycled materials available for use in the beverage market.”
CVP actively recruits national, regional and local sponsors to help increase the opportunities for making progress towards improving recycling rates. More information on how other companies and industry organizations can join CVP is available at www.RecycleCurbside.org.
Formed in 2007 by Coca-Cola Enterprises, the world’s largest marketer, distributor and producer of Coca-Cola products, Coca-Cola Recycling LLC has a mission to recover and recycle the packaging materials developed and used by the Coca-Cola system in North America. By establishing centralized recycling centers at Coca-Cola Enterprises’ major production facilities in North America and creating innovative collection programs at large-scale events like the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola Recycling is committed to increasing recycling rates and ensuring ready access to recycled material.
About The Curbside Value Partnership
Officially unveiled in October 2005 at the National Recycling Congress, the national CVP program is currently funded by members of the Aluminum Association and Can Manufacturer’s Institute. CVP is the only current, national program that engages communities, haulers, material recovery facilities (MRFs) and other stakeholders to identify solutions to improving curbside recycling programs through education. CVP activities benefit communities and industry, driving more recycled materials into mills across the country benefiting the fiber, glass, steel, plastic and aluminum industries. CVP’s goal is to launch and study education programs to increase participation in local curbside recycling programs and make programs more profitable and sustainable. Current CVP partner communities include the state of Georgia as well as Arlington County, Va.; Brevard County, Fla.; Burlington County, N.J.; Denver, Colo.; Kansas City, Mo.; Indian River, Fla.; Lancaster and York Counties in Penn., Mecklenburg County, N.C. Omaha, Neb.; Baton Rouge, LA, and Orlando, Fla.. For more information, visit www.RecycleCurbside.org. |
