Landfill Operations Workshop (separate registration required):
Learn how to control cost, maximize your site's airspace, and determine if your landfill is really efficient. Through in-depth discussions this course helps you solve everyday issues surrounding landfill operations, allowing you to understand successful landfill management practices, including equipment selection. Additionally, with registration you receive the book "The Handbook of Landfill Operations," by Neal Bolton. This course is for anyone interested in learning more about improving the daily operations at their landfill site.
Landfill Fires Workshop (separate registration required):
This workshop will address the common causes of fires at landfills, with particular focus on spontaneous combustion, the chief cause of a number of major landfill fires in North America. Case histories of actual landfill fire incidents will be described to showcase the improper operating practices that have lead to fire incidents. The benefits of proper compaction and covering of waste, choosing the correct type and quantity of cover material, limiting the size of the waste cells and the active filling face, backfilling excavations and routine site inspections with gas and temperature monitoring will be outlined.
