New
Equipment For Soil Stabilization Projects: Stoltz
Site Spreader
The Site
Spreader, a new line of cement, lime, or flyash
spreaders for the soil stabilization industry, is
introduced by Stoltz, a division of Stoltzfus Spreaders
in Morgantown, PA. Modified from designs for agricultural
lime spreaders, the new Site Spreader allows precise
application of large volumes of cementitious materials
on the soil surface at construction and road building
sites. These soil binding materials are then tilled
into and mixed with native soil to create a stable
soil surface for construction purposes. The Site
Spreader works as part of a fleet of equipment for
the soil stabilization process.
Site
Spreaders apply large volumes of dry bulk material
without dust, and can be filled as fast as the tanker
truck can unload to help enhance productivity. Stoltz
Site Spreaders are used in highway construction,
site development and asphalt recycling projects.
Specific applications include construction of street
beds in residential and commercial developments,
and general soil stabilization for residential developments
and shopping malls.
Site
Spreaders can apply hydrated lime, quicklime, flyash,
Portland cement, bentonite and lime kiln dust in
rates as high as 120 lb/sq. yd in an 8, 10 or 12
foot wide level swath.
Truck-mounted
Site Spreaders are custom designed to fit the customers
truck chassis, and hold one standard tanker load
of bulk material. Pull-type Site Spreaders hold
half of a tanker load. Computer controlled hydraulics
provide consistent application rates.
Dust
control is important in this type of equipment because
of proximity to car traffic and workers at highway
and construction sites. Site Spreaders are filled
pneumatically from bulk material transport trucks.
To minimize dust during loading, the exclusive double
reverse flow air circulation removes most of the
dust before it exits the hopper through 157 sq.
ft. of filtering surface.
During
spreading, dust is controlled by surrounding the
spreading auger with heavy-duty dust curtains. Absolute
dust control may be achieved by mounting available
low-flow spray bars along the auger.
To insure
safety while loading, the hopper is protected by
a high capacity, low pressure relief valve. Access
to the interior is through removable side or top
panels.
To provide
level filling of virtually any type of dry material,
the patent pending fill pipe has an adjustable throttling
collar that allows both dusty and course materials
to be loaded evenly in the hopper.
Available
digital scale systems monitor filling and spreading.
All truck-mounted systems are upgradeable to full
GPS for mapping applied rates or for variable rate
application.
